On July 22, the Houthis (as Ansar Allah is known) released footage of their recent attack on the Yemen border with the Saudi province of Jizan.
The ground attack targeted several positions of the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies near the al-Dud Mount, which oversees a long strip of the Yemeni-Saudi border line.
During the attack, Houthi fighters engaged in heavy clashes with Saudi-backed forces, who fled many of their positions. A 7-minute video released by the Houthis includes dramatic footage from the battle.
The Houthis killed several Saudi-backed fighters in the course of the attack. Many others were captured alive by the Yemeni group’s fighters.
Earlier this year, the Houthis carried out a large-scale operation inside Jizan. The group’s fighters reached the town of al-Khobhd, more than 3 kilometers into the province. At least 80 personnel of the Saudi military, Sudanese military and Yemeni forces were killed or injured.
The Saudi-led coalition and its proxies have been attempting to secure the Yemeni-Saudi border line for more than six years, to no avail.
