Late at night, Israeli Air Force fighter jets struck on what reportedly was a Hamas’ military base in the Gaza Strip. The attack was carried out in response to the  continued launching of incendiary balloons towards Israeli territory.

No casualties were reported.

The Israeli air strikes targeted an open area in northern Gaza and a militant training site belonging to the Hamas movement in southern Khan Yunis.

The Israeli military noted that the Hamas military facility was located near civilian cites, 250 meters from a school.

According to the reports by the Hamas-run Al-Aqsa TV, no casualties or damage were caused during the attack. The Palestinian groups reportedly opened a return fire on the Israeli warplanes.

These are not the first Israeli strikes on Gaza since the ceasefire was reached on May 20. The last such attacks were reported on July 2 and July 3.

Airstrikes are not the only means of punishment used by Tel Aviv in response to incendiary balloons launching from Gaza.

On July 25, the Israeli government has reduced the fishing zone of the Gaza Strip. Under the 1993 Oslo Accords, Israel is obligated to permit fishing off the Gaza Strip’s coast up to 20 nautical miles, but this obligation has never been implemented.

“It has been decided to reduce the fishing zone in the Gaza Strip from 12 nautical miles to six nautical miles,” the Israeli military branch responsible for civil affairs in the occupied Palestinian territories (COGAT) said on Sunday.

The decision was made following the continued launching of incendiary balloons from the Gaza Strip towards Israel.

The fishing zone is now an important tool of manipulation and is established by Israel in accordance with the actual military situation. For example, on July 12, Tel Aviv claimed it was expanding the fishing zone off Gaza and allowed additional imports into the Palestinian territory because of the security calm.
